My favorite photos: Orange Tent
This photo was taken during one of our canoe trips on French River, Ontario. We camped for the night on an island with a beautiful view, and the bright orange tent completed scene nicely.
My favorite photos: Wild Mushrooms
This image was taken at the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada in October 2010. Autumn is the time of rain, colorful leaves, and mushrooms (which look especially appealing against the velvety green moss).
My favorite photos: El Capitan, Yosemite
This photo is of the imposing cliffs of El Capitan, as viewed from the bottom of Yosemite Valley. We got there early in the morning, just after sunrise. The gentle morning light was emphasizing the structure and texture of the rock, creating an amazing effect. I can stare at this photo for hours, and never got bored of it!
My favorite photos: North Rathbun Lake, Kawartha Highlands
This place is located along one of my favorite canoe routes in Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park of Ontario, Canada. As often happens on a windless summer morning, the water is so calm and clear that it makes a perfect reflection of the sky. Being in the middle of such a lake in a canoe is one of the truly magnificent ways to experience nature.
My favorite photos: Flowerpot Island
This is a photo from my favorite place in Ontario – Bruce Peninsula and the surrounding islands of Georgian Bay. This one in particular is at the Flowerpot island, famous for the curious rock formations. It was taken on a sunny day in May. Typical for a calm sunny day, the turquoise water looks very inviting (some people have compared it to the Caribbean!) However, even a short swim would be a very refreshing experience, with the water temperature in Georgian Bay rarely reaching 18 C (64 F).
My favorite photos: Old Sawmill
We found this amazing old sawmill in Kings Landing historic settlement near Fredericton, New Brunswick.
My favorite photos: Peggy’s Cove rocky wilderness
Peggy’s Cove is one of the busiest tourist attractions in Nova Scotia. Most of the tourists go directly to the lighthouse (which is said to be the most photographed structure in Atlantic Canada). For me, the landscape around the lighthouse is much more appealing. It’s the unique combination of bogs, inland ponds, and rocky coastline that makes this place memorable for me. To be fair, the lighthouse does add something nice to the background 🙂
My favorite photos: Domes of Taj Mahal
I know, I know. Everybody who goes to India has their own picture of Taj Mahal. It’s probably very high on the list of “most photographed places in the world”. However, it’s so beautiful and magnificent, that you just can’t help it. So here it is.
My favorite photos: Stormy Waters of Georgian Bay
This is probably my favorite place in Ontario, Canada. Bruce Peninsula is truly beautiful. The rocky shores and clear waters of the Georgian Bay look appealing any time of the year. This image was taken in fall, so the water had stormy and somber character to it.
My favorite photos: Maple Leaf Imprint
Date: April 9, 2011
This photo was taken on one of our Bruce Trail hikes. We came upon a gravel road covered with fallen foliage. Some leafs got imprinted into the dirt, like this one:
A little piece of trivia: as of today, 52% of the Bruce Trail corridor is still vulnerable to development.
